National Women’s Health Week

In honor of Mother’s Day being right around the corner, we at Tri-County Health Network want you to know about another observance that you may be less familiar with. May 11th through the 17th is National Women’s Health Week. Led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Women’s Health, the goal of this week is to encourage women everywhere to make their health one of their first and foremost priorities. The most vital idea of the entire campaign is to create “Well Women” everywhere. What is a well woman? Well we are happy to inform you: It’s a state of mind. It’s being as healthy as you can be. And, most importantly, it’s about taking steps to improve your physical and mental health:2NWHW_badge_120x240_b

  • Visit a health care professional to receive regular checkups and preventive screenings.
  • Get active.
  • Eat healthy.
  • Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
  • Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking, texting while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.

So remember to take care of yourself and of one another. You only have one body, so be a ‘well woman’ and treat it the best you can!
Have a wonderful Mother’s Day Weekend!
