Tri-County Health Network believes that creating opportunities for residents of our rural community to access affordable healthcare services is essential in order to help our community thrive. To address the lack of affordable eyewear options in our area, our New Eyes program aims to provide anyone in the tri-county area who is not able to afford prescription eyewear with the glasses they need to see clearly.
Providing no-cost eyeglasses to qualifying individuals
New Eyes is a voucher program that purchases glasses for qualifying children and adults. People with a current eyeglass prescription can choose a new pair of glasses and have it mailed to them, free of charge. To qualify, one must have a household income at or below 250% of the US poverty guidelines:
While New Eyes does not pay for eye exams, we can assist you in locating a source for free or low-cost eye exams.
Once we know you qualify, we will schedule an appointment with you to shop for your glasses through the online store and to measure your pupillary distance, if needed. We will generate a voucher for the cost of your glasses, and your new glasses will be ordered!
Program History
In 2019, TCHNetwork recognized the need for a program to fill the gap of available eyeglasses options in our community and particularly for students in our schools. We were granted the funds by Region 10 to implement a New Eyes program to address the need for affordable eyewear in our community by providing no-cost eyewear to qualifying individuals.
Looking Ahead
While our New Eyes program pays for the price of prescription eyewear, we are looking into additional funding in conjunction with the Sight for Students program to extend funding options for eye exams as well. Stay tuned for more information!
