Meet TCHNetwork’s Summer 2025 Intern

Sarah Ireland is a born and raised Rico/Telluride native and is Tri-County Health Network’s (TCHNetwork) 2025 summer intern. She has a deeply rooted passion for helping her community both near and far. She has been volunteering with Rico Fire Protection District since 2021 as an Emergency Medical Technician. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public health and sociology at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. There she researches the quality of public-school sex education as well as wildfire prevention among rural communities through education. She will graduate in May 2026 and return to Southwest Colorado where she plans to work in Public Health and continue giving back to her community. She has keen insight into the issues rural mountains towns face having grown up in one and hopes that by working in and with the community, substantial progress can be made in challenging areas.

During her time with Tri-County Health Network, Sarah’s goal is to increase the accessibility and literacy of the TCHNetwork website and resources. TCHNetwork has an exorbitant number of resources for people to utilize, and some community members are not using them whether it be because the materials don’t exist in their native language, or because resources that do exist are often difficult to navigate. One of Sarah’s projects this summer is translating three 16 section resource packets into Spanish to make them more accessible to community members. In addition, she is working on website updates, helping staff the SHED, collaborating on the gun shop project, attending many training opportunities, and helping wherever she is needed. We are thrilled to have Sarah on our team this summer!
