2021 Health Insurance Open Enrollment Period Approaches!

By Greg Fischer, Program Supervisor

Tri-County Health Network (TCHNetwork) is gearing up to help local residents enroll in health insurance during the 2021 Open Enrollment Period. Open Enrollment officially begins November 1 and runs through December 15to ensure coverage starting January 1, 2021. An extended enrollment period runs from December 16th to January 15th for coverage beginning February 1, 2021. This is the annual period that individuals and families can enroll or re-enroll for health insurance in 2021.

“Our team is very busy getting prepared to help residents across the region. We know this has been a very difficult year for many and healthcare has become a front-and-center issue for numerous families. Our team is here to help.” said Greg Fischer, TCHNetwork Director of Programming. “Our goal is to help people easily compare plans, apply for financial help (as applicable), and purchase insurance.”

TCHNetwork has a team dedicated to helping community members navigate the complex and ever-evolving world of health insurance. The Health Coverage Guides (HCGs) complete 40+ hours of annual training and have the most current information about available health insurance plans in the region. New for 2021 is the addition of a second health insurance carrier for residents of the Western Slope, who can now choose coverage from Rocky Mountain Health Plans or Anthem. HCGs are positioned throughout the region and are available for appointments in San Miguel, Ouray, Montrose, and Delta counties to explore these options.

TCHNetwork has been partnering with Connect for Health Colorado, the official health insurance marketplace for Coloradoans, for the past 8 years, to ensure community members understand their insurance options and to facilitate the purchase of a plan that is optimal for them. “We want to be as accessible as possible to our communities, so everyone can seek assistance enrolling for the new year. Our HCGs will be available at in-person enrollment events, by appointments, and virtually through Zoom. We know this year has been stressful and we want to find ways to be available to everyone in whatever way makes them most comfortable.” said Fischer.

TCHNetwork will hold enrollment events on the following days at these locations across the region:
