“The benefits of managing a positive exercise routine cannot be understated. The feeling of isolation accompanied by the quite suffering of chronic pain in itself can be disabling. Education and a manageable individual based program are key to living with chronic pain.”
Tri-County Health Network is pleased to offer “Living Life Well with Chronic Conditions” workshops.
The workshop is provided once a week for six weeks. Adults who have a chronic condition and/or are caregivers for anyone with chronic conditions are invited to attend the workshops.
Topics covered include: 1) techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; 2) appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility, and endurance; 3) appropriate use of medications; 4) communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals; 5) healthy eating; 6) how to evaluate new treatments. We are offering the series completely free of charge for all participants.
Classes are highly participatory and will be facilitated by two lay leaders trained in the Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Program, one or both of whom are non-health professionals with chronic disease themselves.
